The year was 34 BCE and the location Alexandria, Egypt. Mark Antony (ruler of the Roman East), and his wife Cleopatra (Egpytian Pharaoh) held a massive event the we today call “The Donations of Alexandria.” Antony declared that he and Cleopatra’s children would be future rulers of Egypt, as well as the Eastern Roman provinces. Back in Rome, Octavian had one word for this…Treason!
